The project European Destination
of Exellence

The project European Destination of Excellence (EDEN) is announced by the European Commission, whereby more than twenty European countries are involved. In the Czech Republic, it is the Czech Tourism Agency that is an expert guarantor to this project.

The theme for that year was “Water – a tourist destination”. The jury, whose members were representatives of CzechTourism Agency, Ministry for Regional Development, Ministry of Agriculture, Agency for Nature Conservation and Landscape Protection of the Czech Republic, and Association of Tourist Regions of the Czech Republic, assessed the enrolled locations based on voluminous materials which the representatives of each destination were to submit. The Baťa Canal was one of five finalists among which only the winner was chosen.

The Baťa Canal became a bearer of the prestigious award “Baťa Canal – finalist of the EDEN 2010 Contest“. This award was handed over by Rostislav Vondruška, Minister for Regional Development, at the ceremonial announcement.
